About
M. Madeleine marries a Lacombe man and her sister, M. Marguerite, marries the son of a Lacombe woman. We should probably not be surprised, as villages were small and inhabitants were few or from large families like this one (eight siblings survive into adulthood and one dies at the young age of 22).
M. Madeleine is 28 years old and Joseph is 30 when they marry — relatively late in life for both for the time. It is unknown if they were previously married. She is 70 and he is 80 at their deaths — an unusually long life as well.

- Birthplace – Place of birth as “Riviere-des-Prairies” is from AFGS “Jette” book (Ref # JET 009) page 570, as well as “Montreal” as the place of baptism, is confirmed and shown on “AFGS” “PRDH” file # 43218. Place of baptism as “Lac-des-deux-Montagnes” is from “Dictionnaire Genealogique des Familles Canadiennes Vol IV” page 510. The “PRDH” burial file for M. Madeleine has conflicting information, but (Generation 11.32) Marcel thinks the dates above for her death and burial are correct.
- Children — We could not find information pertaining to children from this marriage, but that is not to say that they were childless. Perhaps there is simply no record, or records were lost for one reason or another. This is not unusual, given the span of time. In any case, they would have the Lacombe surname, and for this reason, we did not pursue additional research at this time.
- Typically, the location of Canada is shown for familiarity purposes. At this time in Canadian history, it would have been known as “Nouvelle France” (New France). See (Generation 11.32) Marcel’s “Introduction” and “Story of Pierre” for additional information. New France became the British Province of Quebec in 1763 after France ceded it in the Treaty of Paris at the end of the Seven Years’ War.
